Install IIS Server on Windows 7

Windows 7 comes with the IIS 7.5 but it can not be enabled. You need to installed using “Turn Windows features on or off” from control panel.

Go to Control Panel=>Programs and Features then click “Turn Windows features on or off” link to launch “Windows Features” as shown in below screenshot:

Now, simply click on the features that are checked on the following screens and then hit the OK button to begin the install.

Note: To install IIS ensure the following components are selected:

1. Web Management Tools: IIS Management Console.
2. ASP.NET: Support MVC (model-view-controller) development.
3. ISAPI Extensions: Support ASP.NET in classic mode.
4. Performance Features: Provides content compression support.
5. Security: Provides several authentication mechanisms.
